How do I determine if the user has moved to the new record row of a Data Grid View in VB 2010? Dave The problem with using the Select Ion Changed event is that it is raised whenever a cell is selected or unselected, i.e.

Upon clicking save button, I have to check if there are any conflicts and if there are I display those in another datagridview. This applies to both the Validating event and the Row Validating event. If your grid is bound, you should do so via a Binding Source, in which case you can handle the Current Changed event of the Binding Source. Thanks for the tip about the Binding Source Current Changed event. Null Reference Exception was unhandled by user code Can you shed any light on why? Dave If you get a Null Reference Exception then that means that something that precedes a dot is Nothing.
I did not realize that the Data Grid View Selection Changed event fired when you changed cells also. On that line, that can only be 'my Data Grid View' or 'my Data Grid View. If it's the former then that would only happen if it was in an event handler that was executed during the initialisation of the form and before the Data Grid View is created.
